The Erick van Egeraat office tower, also known as The Rock, is part of a high-rise urban development south of Amsterdam, named Zuidas. It’s located in the proximity of the city centre with direct access to public transport networks. The Rock is a high-density mixture of offices, housing, retail and public space with nine international architects all contributing to its unique style.
In total there were sixteen special lift car interiors that needed designing and updating. Dewhurst in partnership with NK Liftinterieur bv who are experts in bespoke fit outs were commissioned to carry out the refurbishments.
Three lift cars were fitted with striped wooden panels made from Wengé & American Walnut. The Car Operating Panels were made from brass coloured stainless steel complete with Dewhurst US90 Rimex Ti Gold Granex finished pushbuttons. The floor to the lift car was finished in wood, with angular wooden inserts.
The remaining lift cars were finished with curry-coloured Alcantara leather walls with mirrors on the ceiling and marble flooring. Again, the Car Operating Panel was made from brass coloured stainless steel, complete with Rimex Ti Gold Granex finished Dewhurst US90 pushbuttons.
Thank you to Mr Nick de Korte of NK Liftinterieur b.v. for the installation photographs and to KONE, Hyvinkää for the specification of Dewhurst pushbuttons, relying on our expertise in high quality, bespoke solutions.
